Residencia Permanente in Argentina means that a person has been granted permanent residence and is allowed to live and work in the country indefinitely with almost the same rights as Argentinian citizens. Permanent residents cannot hold an Argentinian passport or vote in national elections (for now), but they can hold a D.N.I. and can leave the country for extended periods of time without losing their residence status. Permanent residence is usually obtained either by having family connections in Argentina (spouse, child, etc.) or by living continuously in the country with a residencia temporaria for a number of years. |
