Neuquén province lies in the west of Argentina, next to Chile at the top of Patagonia. The towering mountains of the Andes in the west of the province have allowed the creation of several hydroelctric power plants in the province - producing enough electricity to power much of Patagonia.

Tourism is the other major industry of Neuquén - there are numerous places to stay in the mountains for winter holidays and plenty of national parks and lakes to discover in the summer. Neuquén lakes are popular spots for fly-fishing.

San Martín de los Andes is a town in the south-west of Neuquén province which is surrounded by beautiful scenery, making it a great place for a laid-back week-long holiday.
